Covid Recovery Scheme

We have been taking part in the government Covid Recovery Scheme provided by our Local Authority and we have selected Communication and Language as an area to develop our children’s progress. We are very lucky to have received an exciting box of new books to share with our children. So far, we have been looking at

The Naughty Bus by Jan Oke

Colin and Lee Carrot and Pea by Morag Hood

You Choose by Nick Sharratt and Pippa Goodhart

These are all books that promote conversation, introduce different vocabulary and keep children interested. The children have greatly enjoyed reading and talking about them, maybe they have already told you about them, take a look on You Tube they are all read on there, maybe you have these books or could borrow them from the library. Our children have all been impacted by the Covid lockdown and this is a fun and effective way develop their Communication and Language skills together.

We have updated our photos so have a look in the lobby where we have displayed photos of Spring term since January of our children Learning Through Play.

The red board is all about the SEVEN AREAS OF LEARNING IN THE EYFS which is what we work towards with all the children. Read the information and see how you can help your child’s development at home, we have added photos of the children engaged in activities developing their skills in these areas at preschool, see how hard they work…. and understand why it is so important to develop these skills early.

The yellow board is all about MUD and what opportunities it offers to your child, look at the photos and see the engagement, awe, and wonder and happiness in the children’s faces. They are fully investigating, exploring, and showing curiosity, all skills needed for Learning.

Please remember that we are always outside , so please make sure your child has a suitable named coat. It will get dirty as we will be playing with and experiencing chalk, paint, soil and other messy play; that is what we’re here for! Please also make sure your child is wearing (named) layers to keep them warm while inside as we will be keeping the windows and garden door open for ventilation.

Please make sure your child has spare clothes in their bag, all children need spare clothes to replace clothes that get wet and messy from independent active play.

Remember to name all your children’s belongings, uniform, spare clothes, coats, water bottles and lunch bags.
