Wow… what a day!

We have had a packed day with as many of the children that were able to attend!

As the weather is getting warmer, please remember to bring a named sun-hat and to put sun cream on your child before they come in.

All children that stay for lunch will need to bring a named bottle of sun-cream for us to reapply after lunch – we do not have a spare one!

Our butterflies had all emerged by the time we returned on Monday! We had a good look at them to see their colours and patterns, before we let them go.

Take a look at our chrysalids as you drop off and collect your children… they have become butterflies! We released one on Friday as it had emerged and was ready to go; we watched as it briefly fluttered about the garden before taking off in search of food.

ALS photography last week to do end of year photos. The proofs are back and have been put in your child’s baskets. The order forms will need to be filled in and returned promptly by Wednesday so that we can post them back to the company.

Don’t forget… ALS photography will be coming in on Monday to do end of year photos. If your child does not usually attend on a Monday and you would like them to be photographed, please bring them in between 10.30 and 10.45am. The children can wear their own clothes on this day; there will be no messy play.

Don’t forget… to bring your form back to Pre-School, stating if your child will be returning in September or not, and whether you want to change your days/hours or include extra hours.

As the weather starts to improve, we will be using the garden more and more with water available most days. Please put a change of clothes in your child’s bag so that they can be changed if necessary. Thank you!

We enjoyed World Book Day this week, making bookmarks and choosing a book to take home. We had all of our dressing up clothes out for the children to enjoy, and made up songs about characters in our books. There was lots of conversation and interest in books, which is what it is all about!

We’ve had a good first week back after the half term holiday with lots of stories, role play and small world play.

Don’t forget that Pre-School will be closed for 1 week for the half term break. We will return as usual on Monday 24th February 2025.

There are lots of different bugs and infections about at the moment; conjunctivitis, coughs and temperatures, tonsillitis to name a few! Please remember that if your child needs Calpol before preschool, they should stay home to get better.

We explored Lunar New Year this week, The Year of the Snake with stories, songs and art activities. The highlight for the children were the noodles, trying to use chopsticks or a fork to pick them up…some resorted to fingers!

Next week we will be exploring our new mud kitchen, using soil, leaves, twigs. We look forward to lots of imaginative play and language!

We will also be talking about Lunar New Year, The Year of the Snake.

After our successful Tesco bid, we are looking forward to the delivery of our new mud kitchen next week! Watch this space for updates.

We have had a great first week back, the children have told us about their holiday and the fun things they have been doing with their families.
Next week we will be welcoming some of our new children and families.

We had a packed day with all the children as we listened to Christmas stories and songs, we made party hats, played games, did some Christmas dancing before our Christmas party snack. We then went to visit the grotto where Father Christmas himself had left everyone a small gift.

This is our last week before we break up for the Christmas holidays on Thursday 12th Dec. This will be our last day, Party Day and Christmas singing day! All the children are invited to attend, even if they don’t usually attend on a Thursday. An email with full details will be sent today.

We will be putting our Christmas post box out this week! It will remain out until the end of term and name lists will be sent home so your child can choose some friends to send cards to. Name lists will be sent home this week.

We hope you have been treated to some of our Christmas songs this week as the children have enjoyed joining in and we are starting to use some props alongside them.

On Thursday we will be holding our termly Progress meetings with parents/carers. We have a few more spaces if you have not yet signed up to meet with your child’s keyperson.

We will be starting to listen to and sing some festive songs this week as we get closer to the end of the year.

We will be returning from the half term break on 4th November – we hope you all have a good week off!

We are aiming to be outside as much as possible while the weather is still mild. Please make sure your child has a suitable outdoor coat and shoes.

We will be exploring some Halloween activities, songs, stories and crafts as the 31st October fast approaches!

Please remember to bring your snack donation in at the beginning of your Pre-School week as we have had very little variety to give the children this week in terms of fruit, crackers/breadsticks and margarine. The list is available on the board if you have forgotten your snack item. Thankyou!
